Sarah found it very difficult to find employment while she was finishing her 5th year of high school at Kinney. Sarah came to the Youth Career Center every week over several months seeking help with developing a resume, completing job applications, learning interview skills and strategies for following up with employers. Through her engagement with the Youth Career Center, she was introduced to a summer internship opportunity with GAP Inc. Sarah interviewed, was accepted and received a paid internship at Banana Republic in Folsom, one of the GAP Inc.’s family of stores. Sarah successfully completed her paid internship and received a job offer for continued employment. Sarah is currently working part-time at Banana Republic and has started her college education at Folsom Lake College with a long-term goal of becoming a nurse. August 2019
Our monthly Connections Cafe was highlighted in the June 7th addition of the Carmichael Times. Connections Cafe is a networking luncheon that brings together local service providers to decrease duplication of services and provide a way to share upcoming events. Connections Cafe is funded by SMUD. June 2019

Our Family Resource Center’s “Welcome To Rancho Cordova” and “The Reading Tree” murals were highlighted on Good Day Sacramento and the Grapevine Independent. We are so excited to share the engaging environment these murals create for the children and families that visit us. The mural project was supported by the Measure H Community Enhancement Fund from the City of Rancho Cordova. February 2019

"Woodmack Products, Inc. has worked with the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership for more than 5 years. During this time, we have experiencing a great need for the employment services that FCCP successfully offers in our community, including on-the-job training, job placement, job search assistance, job retention and follow-up services especially for low-income and non-English speaking individuals. Our community has a number of low-income job seekers who struggle to find gainful employment. FCCP staff are experts in the barriers that these job seekers commonly face such as lack of language and job skills, high school or higher education, job search, and interview skills, access to financial education, and connection to the hiring community. FCCP has listened to our needs and even provided candidates with math courses and welding training. WPI has employees that were hired through the FCCP more than 5 years ago that continue to be valued assets to the WPI team. On Saturday, April 21st, the Rancho Cordova campus of San Joaquin Valley College (SJVC) hosted the first Ventilator 5K Race and Health Fair in the region. "The objective of the race is to push a ventilator five kilometers," says Bruce Dearing, SJVC's RTP Assessment Coordinator. "Each team consists of a crew chief and pit crew, which will take turns pushing the ventilator." Race teams decorated their ventilator, to reflect a theme they select, such as Toy Story, the 70's and Star Wars.
This event raised $4,320 for the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership. "Mechanical ventilators literally breathe life back into people who cannot breathe on their own. So we thought, what better "machine" to use in a fundraising event aimed at breathing new life into important projects right here in Rancho Cordova," says Mr. Bruce Dearing. "We felt the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership's mission of enhancing the education, health and well-being of the community went hand-in-hand with our purpose for the college's Ventilator Race fundraiser.
